Vorlesungszeit ist vorbei / Lectures are done for the semester

It certainly has been a while since I last wrote, but I was up to my eyeballs in work and just couldn’t find the time. Okay, I admit that there were also a couple of parties in there, but I do tend to make it hard for myself: I correct and hand back my finals (approx. 100) together with the certificate (=”Schein”) within one week. My students love that, but it almost kills me.
Last week my students took their finals and I am genuinely pleased with the results:
As usual, around 10% failed. But according to my records, most of those, who fail and thus have to repeat my course, end up getting a relatively good grade the next time around.
One final was almost perfect (17/18 points) – it was a true joy to correct.
Otherwise, I had a pretty normal bell curve going, i.e. lots of grades in the middle.
I don’t have to, but as in every semester, I also have my students grade me and my lecture (after handing back their grades, mind you). I got an “A-” – I would have had a straight “A” had it not been for a couple of disgruntled students who …
