The proposed reforms to the legal profession in England and Wales were outlined by the Department for Constitutional Affairs (DCA) in a white paper, “The Future of Legal Services: Putting Consumers First” (pdf). The white paper is the result of a study into the regulatory framework for legal services launched by the Department for Constitutional Affairs last year.External ownership of law firms is also to be permitted, with the potential for non-lawyers to own 100 per cent of a firm!
