Blogging may be mainstream in some professions by now, but theres one group of people mostly absent from the blogosphere: the in-house bar. Even so, a few in-house blogs do exist, and their numbers are growing steadily. They range from company-sanctioned sites on company-run platforms to anonymous blogs hosted by services like TypePad or BlogSpot.

The in-house lawyers who yak away in cyberspace have a variety of motives, from sharing resources with other corporate counsel to dipping their toes into the experience of writing and publishing.

But its not always so simple. Since blogs are by nature personal, many lawyer-bloggers typically take special pains to separate their views from the corporate line.
