Im Canadian Medical Association Journal erschienen vor kurzem die Ergebnisse einer neuen Studie über die Wirkungen kontrollierter Verabreichung von Alkohol an chronisch obdachlosen Alkoholiker. Die Probanden bekamen u.a. nicht nur geregelte Mahlzeiten, Hilfe beim Behördengang und Ausfüllen der Formularen, sowie 24-stündige Betreuung durch Krankenschwester und zwei Ärzte. Jeder bekam auch 140 ml Wein bzw. 90 ml Sherry pro Tag.
Ergebnis: Stabilere Alkoholeinnahme und weniger Besuche vom Polizist bzw. zum Arzt.
