Hamdan v. Rumsfeld: landmark dispute over executive power in wartime

This message was written by a fellow student in my program. I believe it is of great interest to this blog...
He is referring to an article you can find here.
On this, the day that the U.S. Supreme Court hears
arguments in the Hamdan v. Rumsfeld case (a landmark
dispute over executive power in wartime) I thought Id
forward must read article on Kosovo whose content is
unfortunately less than front-page news. Actually,
this kind of coverage - strangely - gets downplayed or
ommitted outright by both parties and both sides in
the media; the Democrats/left thinkers because of
their uncritically pro-Independent Kosovo right-now
campaign, the Republicans/conservatives because of the
storys obvious negative implications for the Bush
administration..
So I rely on BHHRG. British Helsinki Human Rights
Group, in my perhaps overly-righteous opinion, is by a
long shot the best independent HR advocacy org on
E.Europe and the Near East. Enjoy.
Best,
Radosh
ps. I especially love how NATO used the Serbian
language in this one. Impartiality at its most
partial.
pss. Incidentally, this is not turning out to be such
a good precedent for those who argue in favor of a
envigorated regime of UN Trusteeship - especially if
the countries that will serve as Trustees cannot in
fact or deed quite be trusted...
