FOIA in Germany

CK - Washington.   The new federal freedom of information statute, Gesetz zur Regelung des Zugangs zu Informationen des Bundes became effective today in Germany. Section 6 provides for the protection of intellectual property. Section 7 addresses procedural issues. Third parties, whose data may be affected by governmental disclosure, may intervene under procedures stated in section 8. The statute is commonly known as the Freedom of Information Statute, Informationsfreiheitsgesetz. The IFG complements existing Land codifications. German American Law Journal :: Washington USA
