EU Information Societys High Level Expert Group on Digital Libraries
am 28.03.2006 von Law & JusticeEurActiv writes today that the industry is better represented than the library sector among the members of DG Information Societys High Level Expert Group on digital libraries, which met for the first time on 27 March 2005 ( Read a press release published on Europa Website).This groups mandate is to advise the EU Commission about the organisational, legal and technical challenges of a future European digital library. The Commission has also called upon the expertise of pioneers of digital libraries such as Brewster Kahle, the founder of the Internet Archive Way Back Machine and Nikesh Arora, vice-president European Operations of Google, who will bring his experience from Google books.The Commission had already organised an online consultation about digital libraries.
