Worum geht es?
Es geht um das “öffentliche Interesse”. Den Begriff also, der Verwaltungsrichter, Behördenleiter und Gesetzgeber so gern umtreibt.
Die Frage lautet: Gibt es soetwas überhaupt? Etwas, das über die Interessen des Einzelnen hinausgeht, und das er in der Lage wäre zu erkennen und sogar gezielt zu bedienen?
Friedman meint: Nein.
Und so provokant wie die These ist auch der Titel seines Aufsatzes:
