Avoiding the Queue for .eu ?

A while ago William F. (Bill) Heinze wrote a post on his (excellent for follow up of mostly USA IP-law) blog I/P Updates:
“According to Richard Schreier of Pool.com, EURid has required Registrars (those organizations accredited to broker domain acquisition on behalf of customers) to submit their applications for new .EU domain names in the order in which they are received. However, independent companies (like Pool.com) who are
not accredited
are not subject to the same rules, and
do not have to comply with the first come first served requirement
. He says that these independents will be prioritizing their domain name requests during the sunshine period based on their customers needs, rather that first-come, first-served because these rules do not apply to them.” [I emphasise]
I’ve consulted the website of EURid and have also asked (by e-mail) how they deal with such initiatives of companies that are not accredited as .eu registrars. It comes down to the following policy:
(1) only companies accredited as registrars by EURid can register domain names. Here you can find a list of all accredited .eu registrars.
(2) accredited registrars, who sign a contract (pdf) with EURid and have to follow guidelines, have to apply the ‘first come first served’ principle
(3) consequently all non- accredited companies (like e.g. pool.com) will have to use the services of accredited registrars, who are obliged to apply the ‘first come first served’ principle vis à vis the EURid-servers anyway. A company that gathered pre-registrations …
