The ongoing development of the networked and digitized society and the dominance of information in the new economic environment have altered the way transactions are conducted. The power to produce or copy and then disseminate huge amounts of information to an unlimited number of recipients has created an explosion of human creativity. This radical and rapidly developing advancement has intrinsically questioned the traditional centralized system of distributing information and with it all the legal norms that were developed in order to protect and secure its functionality. As the internet has changed the way we think and communicate, the science of law is trying to adapt to the disruptive effects of this new reality and the law faculties across Europe are trying to develop their teaching initiatives accordingly.
