Rather surprisingly, earlier this week Michael Frieser, MEP and rapporteur for the ruling CDU party in Germany’s Lower House of Parliament, announced plans to eventually pass the long announced employee data protection amendment to the German Federal Data Protection Act (“Amendment”) in Parliament in early 2013. Following a lengthy stalemate in the legislatory process, most observers wrote off any amendments for the running parliamentary term.
